Dear visitors of the site,
University of World Economy and Diplomacy which works under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan does its best to meet the requirements of the Ministry. The University has been training future diplomats and specialists in the field of international law and economic relations who are supposed to fill in the ranks of the employees of the Ministry and other state organizations.
In recent decades continuous growth of multilingual conferences and the modern global tendencies taking place in the world, made the Ministry’s growing need for interpreters abundantly evident. Taking into account this situation and the fact that the specialists working in the sphere of international communication must have the ability to not only know foreign languages on the highest level, but also be able to interpret, UWED embarked on serious efforts to start a Сenter for training interpreters. The task was not easy, but now, after more than five years of continuous work, we may proudly state that we have accomplished the given task. At present student-interpreters of our University are involved into providing consecutive and simultaneous interpreting at various MFA RU events, as well as talks, conferences etc. of other state and international organizations in this country.
We’d like to take this chance and wish all those who are interested in interpreting to become active users and participants of this site. We hope that the fledgling field of interpreting in this country will be enriched and developed further by the users of this site. Good luck!

Welcome to our site!
Training Center for Interpreters of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy focuses its efforts on training its students to be able to interpret in consecutive and simultaneous modes in public and international fora. The Center operates as an experimental site for would be diplomats, international lawyers and economists.
The Center proceeds from the assumption that every interpreter should have a serious dash of diplomacy in his/her work , and every diplomat should be able to interpret political and other topics with good linguistic capability.
Everybody knows in this country, how much attention is attributed to the study of foreign languages at UWED. This very fact and the growing demand for interpreters made the leadership of the University to start looking for the ways to put this idea into practice. As a result TCI UWED has been launched.
To know foreign languages does not mean to be able to interpret. The Center doesn’t teach foreign languages, it trains students with good command of foreign languages to acquire certain skills needed for the work of an interpreter, including note taking.
It is common knowledge that performance can be improved through practice. This is the reason why TCI sets up all kinds of events, specially organized to give its students opportunity to make public speeches and interpret.
We are really grateful to UNDP, British Council and many other local and foreign organizations and individuals who have been supporting TCI UWED since its inception.
At present TCI looks a bit exotic in the body of educational institutions of this country. We hope to help this situation to start changing, realizing how much the job of interpreters is needed in Uzbekistan today. We invite students of other Universities of Tashkent and provinces of our country to participate in the events and programs of TCI UWED.
